Hottest autumn/winter make up tips!

Sponsored by L’Oreal Paris

With the neutral Summer make-up trends finally departing, we’re looking forward to trying out some new looks for Autumn/Winter. According to top beauty experts in L’Oreal Paris, “daring to be different is a good thing,” so we’ve rounded up their top tips on how to perfect some new trends for the upcoming season.

MAKE-UP

According to L’Oreal make-up artist Val Garland, “For me, AW 2015 is all about strong statement eyes and fresh, peachy, dewy skin.”

This trend is all about the drastically dark eye. Last season, the use of any harsh colours around the eye was almost frowned upon – even the use of mascara – but that’s all changed now. For this look, make sure to coat the lashes with good mascara such as L’Oreal Paris’ False Lash Superstar, and accentuate the eyes with liner.

“When making strong eye statements, keep the rest of your look clean and low-key. Aim for fresh, peachy skin and be sure to steer clear of blush,” she said.

For the rest of the face, it’s important to keep it fully moisturised as the more changeable weather sets in. For a light, no make-up feel, opt for L’Oreal’s Nude Magique Eau De Teint. It’s perfect for that soft, dewy look!

NAILS

On all the catwalks for the A/W looks, navy, burgundy and grey shades of nail polish were all the rage, and black is making a serious comeback on the hands of many models.

L’Oreal nail expert Lorraine Griffin, shares “For me, the AW 2015 trend is dark tones of red, purple, black, blue, green and grey. Choose your colours with iridescent hue adding another dimension to your varnish, greater depth of shine and a jewel-like finish…Two coats of varnish will add more depth of colour to the finished result.”

While the darker colours are on trend right now, a little extra care is needed with these tones as they can stain your nails. To reduce the chances of this, opt for a base coat, followed by the polish, and then add a layer of top coat to seal in the look and help it last longer. After all, who wants nail-polish which chips away after a few hours?!

HAIR

It’s all about the right shade of colouring for this season, and everyone seems to be loving ‘bronde’.

L’Oreal hair colourist Christopher Robin explains: “The AW 2015 hair trend is now all about uniqueness. Every woman wants to embrace her look and own it. They no longer want to follow mainstream styles but create their own. Natural hair colour is very current, but lightening needs to remain close to their natural colour. This is what ‘Bronde’ is about – it’s neither blonde nor brunette.”

He went to say, “Those wanting to go bronde without tipping over the edge to full on blonde, should take the time to find the right tone. The correct one should be two or at most three shades below your natural colour.”

L’Oreal have their own brand of Bronde hair kits – Preference Glam Bronde – which makes DIY ‘bronding’ easier than ever. The dye is leaves natural tones in the hair, and will help you through the A/W season with perfectly on trend locks.
