Home of the Year judge Hugh Wallace has passed away

Home of the Year judge Hugh Wallace has sadly passed away at the age of 68.

The architect and TV presenter’s husband, Martin Corbett, shared the sad news on social media.

He simply wrote: “It is with deep sadness and shock that I share the news that my beloved husband and soulmate, Hugh Wallace, passed away suddenly at home last night.

“I am heartbroken. Please respect my privacy at this deeply painful time. Martin.”

Martin was met with condolences from his and Hugh’s friends.

Lucy Kennedy wrote: “I loved Hugh, so much fun always. I’m so sorry for your loss Martin. X”

“Omg only out with you both on Saturday night at the HIV Ireland Red Ball. We laughed so much with Hugh Such tragic news rip x,” Deric Hartigan commented.

“This is such heartbreaking news. What a wonderful man,” James Patrice said.

Hugh became a household name when he joined Home of the Year as a judge when the show premiered in 2015.

He also fronted The Great House Revival, a show that focused on renovating older homes around Ireland and giving them the TLC that they deserve.

Away from TV, Hugh was known for his tireless work at preserving heritage buildings around the country. He was the founding partner of Douglas Wallace Consultants.
