Margaret’s life is in a rut, stuck in an endless cycle of ironing, cooking and carrying her husband and children through the world. She takes solace in chatting daily from her kitchen to country mega star Garth Brooks as she irons her latest mountain of crumpled clothing. Garth, it turns out is a good listener, which is just as well – as Margaret doesn’t really want another voice in the room while she tells him her woes.
ARE YOU THERE, GARTH? ITS ME, MARGARET is a wonderful piece of laugh a minute fictional comedy based on one woman who built her life around Garths shows and her hopes and expectations. Margaret’s story is poignant, tender, and a little bit heart-breaking.
