Following Colm Haye’s shocking announcement yesterday that he’ll departing 2FM, it has been revealed that his replacement could be top comedian, Al Porter.
The 23-year-old worked with Colm over a year ago, and after impressing station bosses, could be the person to replace the veteran RTE star.
A source told The Herald, “He’s the perfect demographic for the station. He’s only 23, he’s a very likeable character and listeners reacted well to him on 2FM, so he’s the most obvious replacement for Colm.”
Meanwhile, Colm told the Irish Sun that 2FM are looking for younger audiences, and has big fears for anyone who is over 40 years of age working on the station.
He said, “I’m not retiring. I love radio and being who I am, but I need to step in a more mature style of broadcasting.
“At the moment, 2FM are chasing a new younger audience, and believe having a veteran DJ on air might put kids off switching over. I think any DJ in 2FM now who is over 40 should be looking over their shoulder.”
