The Love Island star says he is “so proud”, to be a part of the qualifying team.
Greg O’Shea took to Instagram to celebrate the Irish Rugby 7’s qualifying for the Olympics in Tokyo.
He wrote, “So much was sacrificed by this team to make the Olympic dream come true. I am so proud to be part of it. Thank you to everyone who supported us over the last few years. Tokyo here we come💚.”
In a video on the Irish Rugby Instagram page, a delighted Greg says he is “honestly speechless” after qualifying.
“This is the thing of dreams,” he continued.
Greg also revealed that he wasn’t originally picked for the team, “I’m not even supposed to be here, I wasn’t initially picked and now I’m here standing on the pitch. I love it, come on Ireland!”. O’Shea was called up to join the team after Gavin Mullin got injured and could not play.

Greg shared that he decided to return to his roots in rugby after realising the life of brand deals and appearances after Love Island was not for him, especially after receiving hate post breakup with Amber Gill.
“I was like, do you know what maybe I’m not cut out for this crazy lifestyle, so I tucked myself away back in Ireland and I kept training with the team full time.
“I went back to the life I had before Love Island so that’s what really helped me to stay mentally strong. But it is really tough, the hate messages are a hard pill to swallow but I think I’ve dealt with it well,” he told the Mail Online.
We are delighted to see Greg back in his element, and wish the team the best of luck in the Olympics!
