Graham Norton has revealed his true feelings about The Great British Bake Off’s controversial move from the BBC to Channel 4.
It was recently announced that the new series of the hit show will be shown on Channel 4 rather than it’s original channel, the BBC and presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins as well as legendary judge, Mary Berry won’t be reprising their roles on the programme.
The BBC chat show host has spoken out about the move and admitted that he doesn’t think the show will ever be as good as it was on the BBC.
“It’s very sad for everybody; Love Productions is looking bad, Channel 4 looks a bit stupid, for everyone else it’s collateral damage,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“Bake Off was about the four presenters and there’s an alchemy which will be very hard to replicate.
“No matter how good it is on Channel 4, it will never be as good as it was on the BBC.”
When speaking about the departure of three out of four of the show’s stars, he said that the programme would have lost something even if all four decided to leave.
“Even if all four had gone, somehow it would have been sullied,” he said.
“But in the end it’s a show about cakes and we’ll all get on with our lives.”
