Graham Norton appeared on The Late Late Show on Friday night. But it was far from his first time on the couch.
He made his first appearance on the Late Late back in 1999 where he spoke to Gay Byrne.
Reflecting on the moment, Graham admitted that it was a “really special thing”.
He remembered how he was being interviewed by the icon that was Gay Byrne and on the couch alongside broadcasting legend Terry Wogan.
Graham was 34 when he appeared on the chat show for the first time where he discussed coming out as a gay man in a very different Ireland.
When asked, Graham joked that he thought he felt “out of step” because he was a Protestant!
“I thought I’m feeling out of step now, it must be the Protestant thing and then it was a revelation when I left Ireland and I realized that that wasn’t the Protestant thing at all,” he explained at the time.
Watching the clip back ahead of appearing on the Late Late on Friday he admitted he was “so young”.

“There’ll probably be a time when I’m looking at my appearance tonight thinking I look young,” he said in a video shared by The Late Late Show’s Instagram.
“It’s so rare to be kind of aware that something special — you know, normally, it’s you look back and you go, ‘Oh, that was special.’,” she went on to say.
“I knew on this night it was a really special thing to be on with Gay, who I’d admired for so many years, and then Terry, who was kinda my career mentor/idol in the UK.”
What an icon!
