Grá ar an Trá is back for a second season and we couldn’t be more excited.

Síomha Ní Ruairc gushed to VIP Magazine about the new season: “it was deadly to go back and be reunited with everyone and then the new baby Gaeilgeoirs we call them the ‘páistí’ they added a new twist to this year’s filming, but it’s deadly.

“It’s two weeks of filming with my best friends and Gráinne Seoige is a deadly person, it was just such a fun experience again. I keep saying it is such a great gig I can’t believe I get paid for this stuff.”

While James Kavanagh admits that it’s like going on holidays for the fortnight. However, this season will be filled with new twists and turns.

“There was a couple of the new ‘Páistí’ as Síomha said that watched last season with a fine-tooth comb and they were like visibly shook when certain changes were made that they obviously thought they knew the whole timeline and what would happen perfectly,” he tells us with a knowing grin.

One of the big differences from season one is that this season is the first time that an LGBTQIA+ contestant has joined the cast. It means that the Irish language dating show is ahead of the curve in terms of shows like Love Island and Love is Blind.

James tells us: “That was so nice to see, I wondered how it would fit and how it would work. For me I was interested to see how it would flow, in almost like a science experiment way. At time I almost felt like a mad scientist watching all these things go on, but the representation of a gay person in there is brilliant and it does work and hopefully shows like Love Island can see that. I think it also brings drama, gays bring drama, and you will see that. It is just extra spice I think, so why not!

“You don’t need to have an LGBT Gra ar an Trá and straight one it’s nice to just have it mixed and I think this show has shown that it does work.”

While Síomha adds: “It adds a new dynamic to the show that we didn’t have last year, like we keep talking about being fresher and different this year, it really did bring some extra spice and like relationships that we didn’t see last year and I’m really proud to have worked on a dating show of this kind that for the first time that has LGBTQ people in it. We are at the forefront.”

Grá ar an Trá will air on Virgin Media from 9pm on Monday October 14th
