Glenda Gilson opens up about maternity leave and her Xposé replacement

"I'll have a different job to do now"

Glenda Gilson is six months pregnant with her first child but has admitted she hasn’t decided when to go on maternity leave.

The star revealed she has no plans to finish up work anytime soon.

“I don’t know yet, I haven’t figured out what the norm is, is it two weeks before? Some people say it’s longer so I’ll just see how it goes,” she told VIP Magazine.

With Xpose, Ireland’s Got Talent and a number of other projects, the star rarely takes a break, so how will she handle the time away from work?

“I am looking forward to it but I’ll have a different job to do now, and it’ll be two weeks before the babs arrives. People tell me you’re very tired though, so I’m glad I’ll glad to be able to focus on one thing rather than trying to work and look after a baby at the same time!”

With Karen Koster currently on maternity leave from Xpose and guest reporters filling in, many people are curious about who will replace Glenda while she is off.

Stars including James Kavanagh, Nadine Reid and Erin McGregor have been rumoured to be taking the spot, but who would Glenda love to see in her place?

“Nadine is part of the show already, Thalia [Heffernan] is another one that’s been helping out and James too, he’s been helping out. They are all people that I love. Erin McGregor has been thrown in too, but look I’ve a few months left in my job, I not dead yet,” she joked.

Although this is Glenda’s first child, the presenter admitted she is used to the rumours surrounding replacements with other members of the team.

“I’m used to this will all the other girls, it’s like people ask who is going to replace Karen but she’s still in the job. I don’t know, I just hope they get someone in so that Cassie is not on her own anyway.

“All of these names are thrown in, Nadine has done a few packages for us, so has James, so if it continues like that, we’re laughing.”
