Gillian Anderson has dropped some hints that we may be able to expect a new season of the hit TV show The Fall.
The show that starred Irish Actor Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson finished airing in 2016 but fans have been longing for more ever since.
Although Jamie Dornan’s character is not in the series anymore, Gillian has hinted that the show may return with a new season featuring a different case.
Speaking to Elisabeth Moss for Variety’s Actors On Actors series she said, “That’s something we are in discussions about…Even when we ended those three seasons, we talked about the fact that one day, maybe in the same way that Prime Suspect came back. There were huge breaks between their seasons. Our writer/creator/director Allan Cubitt has been ready to dip back in and revisit it and her”.
Writer/creator/director Allan Cubitt had also previously hinted at a return without Dornan, “I don’t think I’m giving much away in saying it’s Jamie’s last season. But that’s not to say that we wouldn’t do more of The Fall,” he told Digital Spy.
Although he did say that he was keen to explore other projects in between, we are hopeful he might want to bring it back soon!
Irish actress Aisling Bea had also previously appeared in the series playing Nurse Sheridan, who tended to Jamie Dornan’s character. Since filming, Aisling has taken to Instagram to explain how she actually trained as an ICU nurse to prepare for the role, and learned some valuable real life skills.
“They obviously would not let an idiot like me into a hospital to observe now, but thanks to the nurses & them being so good to me, I can still genuinely change a tracheostomy tube & years later was able to help a friend do this when they needed care,’” she explained.
We wonder would Aisling make an appearance if the show were to return, watch this space!
