Fred Cooke has admitted that he has a talk with his Dancing with the Stars partner about the Strictly curse.
The ‘curse’ comes from UK show Strictly Come Dancing, in which many of those talking part in the show have cheated, or split up with their partners after doing the show.
Fred has been dating his comedian girlfriend Julie Jay for about a year, but joked that dance partner Giulia Dotta’s similar name, would have made cheating easier.
“It’s funny because Giulia Dotta and Julie Jay have the same name so it would have been convenient if I was having an affair,” he joked.
Speaking on the Six O’Clock show, the funnyman said there is no time for crushes to form when you’re busy rehearsing.
“But you’re so nervous… it wasn’t going to happen anyway, but even if I was thinking of it, you meet this professional dancer, you meet at 9am, you dance and dance and sweat and sweat, you get nervous,” he said.
Earlier this year UK comedian Seann Walsh was pictured kissing his dance partner Katya Jones despite being in a longterm relationship.
Fred admitted that he feared he’d be compared to the disgraced comedian.
“I kind of joked, because Seann Walsh, the English comedian was caught kissing the girl, so I was worried going because I’m the Irish comedian are people going to think that I’m the person who does it. So I brought it up with my professional dancer early on, and said, it’s not going to happen is it? And she goes don’t worry Fred you’ve got nothing to worry about!”
