Fair City stars, fans and other Irish actors have hit out at a Vikings actor who branded Fair City ’embarrassing’, and called it ‘a joke’.
Elijah Rowen who plays Asbjorn in the History Channel show claimed that those who take work on the show would not be accepted in the acting world.
“Personally I think Fair City is embarrassing,” he told the Irish Mirror
“I understand actors might do it for financial gain, but if you really want to be accepted in the acting world – you wouldn’t do it. If you want to talk artistry or expressionally – it’s a joke.”
These comments did not sit well with Fair City stars past and present.
Hilda Fay who played Tracy Mc Guigan in the RTÉ soap for ten years took to Twitter to call the actor out.
“Poor Elijah obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer,” she said.
Daithí Mac Suibhne, who plays Emmet on the soap also chimed in labelling Elijah a ‘tosser’.
“He’ll need a dust-pan and brush to clean up all those names he dropped too. Tosser,” he said.
“I suspect he’s telling porkies about the “sparring” too,” said actor Michael Sheehan known for his role as Dean Dowling in the soap.
Sheehan was making reference to a comment Rowen made about sparring with MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
Other Irish actors took to social media to voice their disappointment at Elijah’s comments.
Ian Lloyd Anderson who played Deano in Love/Hate and Daniel in Dublin Oldschool also labelled the Vikings star as ‘arrogant’.
“Check out this arrogant little brat. Spewing about his “a list” party and taking swipes at actors who are earning a living. Mortifying stuff. Dont be like this guy. This guy is “embarrassing” and this guy is a “joke”. No respect. No class.”
