Johnny Ward has spoken out about his sister’s miscarriage and how it helped him to prepare for his role in Fair City.
Johnny’s character Ciaran was involved in the storyline which saw on-screen girlfriend Farrah suffer a miscarriage only a few weeks ago, and he drew on real life experience to make the heartbreaking scenes as realistic as he could.
“My sister had a miscarriage back in 2012 and if I was completely honest I never really got it,” he told the Irish Star.
“It’s easy as an outsider to say ‘You can try again’, and maybe I was a bit, not insensitive, but seeing everything she went through at the time has been strengthened again by all the research I’ve done since.”
He continued: “Those crying scenes we had to shoot, I had a picture of Maureen’s daughter Susie as a baby and I carried it with me all the time.”
