She’s best known for playing Darren’s sister Mary in RTE smash hit Love/Hate, but in her latest movie, Ruth Bradley has swapped roles and is now the one brandishing the handguns.
Ruth plays the lead role in new Irish film Pursuit, which is a modern telling of the classic Irish legend of Diarmuid and Grainne – with a definite Love/Hate vibe.
We met the beautiful actress at the premiere in IMC Tallaght last night and had to ask: did it feel good being the baddie for a change?
“That’s interesting, I hadn’t really thought about the parallels with Love/Hate until I saw myself holding the guns in the posters, it was gas!” she said. “This is definitely a different character to Mary.
“It’s kind of a rogue movie and Grainne is really strong – she wants what she wants and she’ll do anything to get it, no matter what. To the point where she makes questionable decisions! She was a really fun but wild character to play!
Speaking about filming with Hollywood heavyweights Brendan Gleeson and Liam Cunningham, Ruth gushed that it has been an amazing experience.
“It’s been great, they’re lovely men, they’re so normal and there was no ego there. They’re so talented and always bring their game, which makes you bring your game,” she told us.
“You always learn from them. Just watching great actors is a great learning curve and hopefully I’ll be watching great actors forever!”
Ruth, who recently moved to LA to pursue her acting career, has a busy schedule ahead of her and admitted she’s excited for what the future holds in store.
“Next up I’m doing an American/British tv series called Humans, which is going into the second series, so I can’t wait for that,” she smiled. “Everything is going brilliant right now.”
