Are you heading down to Electric Picnic this weekend?

Well, we have you covered for everything that you might need to know about the beloved Stradbally festival!

Chappell Roan, Hozier, and Kneecap are among the big names taking to the stage this weekend.

When can you arrive?

Early access tickets are sold out which allows people to arrive from 2pm on Thursday.

All other ticket holders can enter from 9am on Friday.

What about the campsites?

The campsites are Janis Joplin, Andy Warhol, Ériu, Jimi Hendrix, and Samuel Beckett.

There are no reserved tent spots; they operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Facilities in the festival’s campsites, including the accessible campsite, include more showers, toilets and now Get Ready With Me (GRWM) stations, which will include mirrors, straighteners, and hairdryers.

There are new campsites, including the Glitterball Campsite, added to the reformatted Poets Camp and the existing Eco and An Láthair Ghaeltachta.

How do you get there?

By Car

From Dublin/ North – M7 Motorway southbound

  • Exit the M9 at Junction 3 and join the N78 to Athy.
  • Before reaching Athy, at the roundabout take first left onto the new Athy Distributor Road.
  • Follow this road until meeting the N78 towards Kilkenny via Ballylinan.
  • Continue on the N78 until it meets the N80.
  • At the junction between N78 and N80, turn right towards Stradbally.
  • Continue straight on the N80 for 11km to Court Square and turn left onto the Timahoe Road.
  • Follow event signs for Accessibility down the Timahoe Road and into the car park.

From Limerick/ Cork – M7/M8 Motorway northbound

  • Exit the M7 motorway at Junction 16 onto R445.
  • Turn left towards Rathbrennan and travel to Bloomfield roundabout.
  • At the Bloomfield roundabout, take the first exit onto the N80.
  • Continue on the N80 to Stradbally.
  • At Court Square, turn right onto Timahoe Road.
  • Follow event signs for Accessibility down the Timahoe Road and into the car park.

N80 From the West

  • Travel on the N80 through Mountmellick towards Portlaoise.
  • Continue on N80 to Lucy Franks roundabout at Fairgreen. Take second exit onto the
    Portlaoise Ring Road.
  • Continue for 3km towards Mountrath Road/R445. At the roundabout take the third exit and continue uphill to the next roundabout.
  • At this roundabout, take the first exit onto the Fr Brown Avenue/Old Knockmay Road.
  • At Fr Brown roundabout continue straight to the Portlaoise South Circular Ringroad.
  • At the O’Doran roundabout, continue straight and turn right onto the N80.
  • Continue on the N80 through Bloomfield roundabout (second exit) towards Stradbally.
  • At Court Square, turn right onto Timahoe Road.
  • Follow event signs for Accessibility down the Timahoe Road and into the car park.

N80 From the South East/ Carlow/ Athy

  • Continue on N80 to Stradbally.
  • At Court Square, turn right onto the Timahoe Road.
  • Follow event signs for Accessibility down the Timahoe Road and into the car park.

By Bus

Marathon Coaches are operating hourly services from North Wall Quay, Bus stop number 7623, from Thursday to Sunday.

Irish Concert Travel are operating a service from Galway City Cathedral to Electric Picnic on August 29th. A return service is available from Electric Picnic on September 1st.

There are many shuttle bus services operating too, have a look for ones in your local area.

By Train

Portlaoise is the closest train station to the festival.

There will be a shuttle bus service running from the Portlaoise Train Station to Electric Picnic.

What is the age limit?

Electric Picnic is a strictly over-18s event (with the exception of children aged 12 and under). Children aged 13-17 years old are not permitted to attend even when accompanied by an adult.

Children aged 12 and under do not need a ticket, but must be accompanied by a ticket-holding parent or guardian at all times. See the Family section for more information.

EP recommends bringing ID as confirmation of your child’s age, a colour photocopy of a passport would be sufficient for this purpose.

How can I charge my phone?

Three Charging will be providing vending machines for power bank rentals in the Late Night Arena, Jimi Hendrix Campsite and the Samuel Beckett Campsite.

These vending machines will also be available at several AIR Hubs across the campsites. Check out your nearest AIR Hub for a Three Charging vending machine!

Do I need to bring cash?

Croke Park is a cashless venue, there will be card only payments at the bars and food vendors.

What can I bring with me?

You may be body and/or bag searched at the entrance, onsite or on leaving. Any item(s), which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon, or which may cause danger or disruption to any other persons at the event, will be confiscated.

Persons suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or carrying out illegal activities within the arena or other parts of the site may be searched.

Glass is strictly prohibited across the entire Electric Picnic site, including the campsites.

What is the weather like?

Met Éireann says that it will be unsettled and windy at times with showers and longer spells of rain.

So pack your wellies!
