Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch is opening up about her experience at the Harry Potter reunion, explaining how strange it was.
Celebrating 20 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the cast and crew reunited for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. A documentary featuring interviews with the cast and creators reminiscing about their time working on the film.
But while Evanna was honoured to be there, she found it strange as she wasn’t actually in the film. Only joining the franchise in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, taking on the role of Luna Lovegood.
Speaking on Sunday with Miriam about the reunion, she said; “It was quite strange honestly for me, because there it was celebrating 20 years of the film’s and it’s not that long for me.”
“It’s more like 10, or 15, because it was 20 years since Philosopher’s Stone came out.”
Continuing; “so there was a lot of those characters from the very first one, a long time ago, and I felt a little bit like ‘how did I get this invite’, you know.”
And as a fan of the films before joining the cast, Evanna found it surreal to be with many of the original stars.
Explaining; “After the actual filming there was they all had a dinner and they were all reminiscing about all these times I didn’t even know about and all these times I was kind of thinking, ‘I was sat at home looking at your pictures on my wall. This is very, very weird to be here.'”
Saying; “I felt very lucky but a little out of place.”
The actress also opened up about her relationship with her new French boyfriend, revealing she’s brought him home to Ireland for the first time.
The pair will be attending her sister’s wedding. Saying; “We met in London, he’s French, he’s quiet.”
“But he’s meeting the whole family this weekend. I kind of felt like, look, it’s my sister’s wedding, all the attention will be on her.”
Revealing; “He’s very shy.”
The pair keep their relationship quiet private, posting no photos together, and keeping his identity under wraps.
