Eric Roberts has had a busy year.
He kicked off 2026 on Dancing with the Stars where he made it to the final. He and his wife, Niamh, are building their forever home in Donegal. And of course, he is running around after his 16-month-old son, Rían.
He cut a dapper figure at this year’s Platinum VIP Style Awards, where he chatted to us about the “come down” from Dancing with the Stars.
“Everyone warned me about it. There’s a bit of a lull afterwards, but luckily I’ve been incredibly busy since, so I’m just trying to sort out my new routine and navigate everything,” he tells us.

“It was seven days a week, eight hours a day, it was a huge undertaking, so it’s nice now having more time to spend at home.”
He adds: “It was a big change, because it was four or five months, and that was my whole life, but obviously with a young son at home, I’ve been kept busy regardless.
“If I had nothing else going on, it would have been pits of depression. But no, I’ve been kept busy since, so it’s been great.”
And Rían is keeping him busy, joking that he’s “running up the walls now”.

“He’s 16 months, and I can’t slow him down, so we can’t take our eyes off him. It’s a busy time, but it’s a really fun time.”
While he is currently based in Dublin as he is one of the hosts of Ireland AM at the weekend, he and his wife Niamh are never going to leave Donegal behind. The couple are currently in the process of building their forever home in their native county.
Eric says the process is “going great”.
“We don’t get up to Donegal as often as we’d like, so every time we do get up, there’s new developments and the kitchen’s going in now in the next couple of weeks. That’s the heart of the house, so once that gets put in, I think it’s going to be smooth sailing.”

Worry not because Eric Roberts is going anywhere as he teases that he has “loads coming up”.
“I have some really exciting projects happening with Virgin and a couple of documentaries that are in the very early stages, talks of a couple of podcasts and some more television bits coming up, so it’s going to be a busy summer.”
He jokes with his Donegal accent he’ll “speak slowly” on his upcoming podcasts. Watch this space!
