The couple, who have only recently shared that their romantic relationship with the public, were chatting to Keith Walsh about everything from their experience on DWTS, how their relationship started and who Johnny thinks will win this years show.
When asked how he feels watching this years show Johnny said that although some people find it hard, he enjoy it and there’s; “no jealousy or anything like that….you just want them to do well.”
He went on to say that he has Brian Dowling tipped to win despite being sat beside Emily who is still in the competition; “I think he’s gonna win dancing with the stars, sorry Emily.”
The pair also agreed that they are relieved the news of their relationship is out in the open despite it being “still very fresh and new.”
Keith Walsh asked if they fancied each other immediately which surprisingly, the couple said no to instead Johnny saying that he was “very nervous” and Emily mentioned he was “very intense.”
However, romance did blossom between the pair but not until they went on tour and Johnny said to himself; “Look YOLO just tell her how you feel and thankfully, my goodness me thankfully Emily felt the same.”
They did admit that “there were feelings there” but they were more of gratitude than romance. This was a result of the death of Johnny’s father halfway through the show where he has said that Emily; “really looked after me and gave me a shoulder to cry on and you don’t forget those things.”
The pair had promised Johnny’s father that they would make it to the final of the show, so the whole experience was tough and emotional; “the dancing sessions became quite therapeutic in a way.”
Overall, Emily helped him by not focusing on the competition and just focussing on each Sunday night, week by week and Johnny also said that he “camouflaged grief with work and thats a great complaint.”
