Elton John announces huge gig in Cork for next year

Big news this week for Elton John fans as the singer is including Ireland in his farewell tour! On Friday the first of July, 2022, he will be raising the roof on Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Elton’s fans were eagerly awaiting an announcement after a teaser earlier in the week. It was then that music promoters Aiken promotions confirmed that Elton would be making an appearance in Cork.

The farewell tour itself will kick off in Berlin on September first at the Mercedes-Benz arena. His shows in Dublin and Belfast in December are already sold out, so the addition of Cork is exciting news for Irish fans.

In a video about the announcement, Elton began by saying “Hello, all you wonderful fans out there!”

“I’m coming to you today with an announcement I’ve been working towards for, well, all my life: the shows that I have announced today will be my final tour dates ever in North America and Europe.”

Elton’s goal with this final tour are to go out with a bang, “performing his very best” and playing in places that have meant so much to him in his career.

With the release of the movie Rocketman in 2019 and it’s recent addition to Netflix, Sir Elton John has gained whole new generation of adoring fans, some who may only know him as the singer in the Lion King (can you feel the love tonight, 1994).

Elton adds: “ This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows.”

The show itself will take the audience through Elton’s 50 years in show business. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll think back to your memories from when you first heard hits like Tiny Dancer and Rocket Man….

As part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, tickets for the Cork gig will go on sale on Thursday, July 22nd at approximately 9am. You can try nab one at any usual Ticketmaster outlet or online
