Elaine Crowley has opened up about suffering with depression and how she has dealt with her demons.
The Midday host has always been open about her mental health struggles and she has now spoken out about how she has coped with her insecurities during her darkest hours.
The brunette beauty told the Weekend magazine, “Up until the last couple of years, I always thought I was an ugly, fat whale. I don’t know what’s changed. I guess I’ve tackled my demons. I’ve got some cognitive behavioural therapy and I’ve got a handle on my depression.
“Because if you don’t love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you? I’ve cut out a lot of toxic relationships in my life since then.”
Elaine has admitted that she had a very negative view of herself for a long time and she believes this is due to her acute sensitivity and surrounding herself with the wrong kind of people.
She said, “I didn’t like myself for an awful long time. I could only see the negativity. I was surrounding myself with negative and superficial people and on top of that I was very sensitive – a bit too sensitive really.”
The seasoned presenter has been seeing a psychiatrist for her depression and this has greatly helped her with her “born melancholy.”
Elaine’s due to take part in the upcoming series of Celebrity Operation Transformation and we think she’ll make a great leader!
