Elaine Crowley: “It’s safe to say I’m not a dancer by nature”

Elaine Crowley will be taking to the dancefloor on Sunday night for the first show of this season of Dancing with the Stars.

And she promises that she’s just there “for the craic” and she won’t be getting too competitive. Which is easy to say before the show starts!

VIP Magazine caught up with her ahead of Sunday night where she was all smiles but admits she just wants to great through the first night without landing on her face!

“It’s safe to say I’m not a dancer by nature, in any way, shape or form. If anyone has seen in me a nightclub over the last 25 years will know! I never really done the dancing,” she tells us with a shrug.

But that isn’t keeping her down as she excited for her Slow Waltz on Sunday night.

She isn’t the first Ireland AM alum who has taken to the DWTS dancefloor, so has she got any advice from Katja Mia or Brooke Scullion?

“I haven’t talked to Katja about it at all. But she told me that she was there if I ever want to cry on her shoulder,” she tells us.

“But Brooke Scullion, who also hosts Ireland AM, also did it a few years ago and said that it was really, really intense. And I know that now! I’m in it now and I might as well enjoy it.”

Of course, Elaine hosts Ireland AM every Friday to Sunday and she admits that she has “no life now”

“I have no life now apart from dancing and work. I barely got Christmas off. To put it kindly, I’m a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to dancing. You would think it’s slow and easy but it’s not. I’m really feeling it now because I was up early to host Ireland AM.”

But worry not as you won’t have to spend your weekend mornings without her as she intends to juggle both.

“I’ve taken this weekend off because there’s lots of costume rehearsals but going forward I will be working all week and taking the Sunday off for the first few weeks. Then we’ll see!”

In the January issue, Elaine discussed joining the show, telling us: “I am seizing every bit of every day. I’m trying to reap every little bit of joy out of life that I can and if that involves me going on the biggest television show in Ireland, so what! What’s the worst thing that can happen?!”
