eir VIP Publishing Power of Women Awards 2024: Nominees for the Lifestyle award, sponsored by VERY

VIP Publishing is delighted to announce that the eir Power of Women Awards are back.

These awards celebrate the best and brightest female entrepreneurs in Ireland, across the worlds of fashion, technology, beauty, lifestyle, wellness and more!

The winners, decided by an expert panel and awarded at an exclusive lunch in Dublin’s Marker Hotel on November 8th, will be profiled in VIP Magazine.

The Lifestyle award sponsored by VERY honours the women whose businesses focus on the beauty of home, hobbies, and life.

Here’s a bit more information about our inspiring nominees…

Una Leonard – 2210 Patisserie 

At the age of 21, Una decided to open her very own bakery in Mullingar and has been sharing her baked goods with the rest of the country ever since.

Today the 2210 Patisserie has grown into a full team of staff, an online business, a full kitchen and to satisfy Una’s caffeine addiction, a team of barista specialists and a great big coffee machine. A bonus… all their sweet treats can be delivered to your home no matter where you are in the country!

Lucy Hegarty – La Bougie

La Bougie is a range of artisan perfume and candle products launched by Lucy Hegarty in 2012. Lucy Hegarty had a career shift after working as a chef for the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson. Her goal was to create “the perfect candle”. After a decade of learning the ins and outs of perfumery and candle making, La Bougie was born.

Portia Quinn & Robin Thompson – Harley & Marley

Harley & Marley is a premium and natural fish-based cat and dog food range made with freshly prepared fish that is fully traceable back to individual boats and skippers.

Harley and Marley launched in 2021 by Portia Quinn & Robin Thompson. Not only are the products 100 per cent natural but the production of the food also reduces unnecessary waste in the environment, supports local fisheries and contributes to Ireland’s climate action goals.

Natasha Rocca Devine – NRD DESIGNS

NRD Designs launched in 2018 and offers staging and commercial design services both in-person and online. Natasha has a Masters in Journalism and Media Communications and a second master’s in interior design.

She has written extensively on interior design for various publications. In 2023 she published her book, The Step by Step Guide to Designing & Styling Your Home.

Adrienne Heslin – West Kerry Brewery

First established in 2008, West Kerry Brewery is the first microbrewery in County Kerry and upon opening, Adrienne Heslin became the first female microbrewer in Ireland.

The mission of West Kerry Brewery, located in the heart of the Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne, is to offer quality beers that are uniquely designed and brewed on the premises. Due to their small brew system, there is consistent quality across their beers.

Laura Bonner – Muff Liquor Company

Muff Liquor Company produces handcraft potato-based Irish spirits and peated whiskey. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, who grew his own potatoes and made and sold his own liquor, Laura Bonner founded The Muff Liquor Company in 2017 and launched its first product in 2018.

The brand has many impressive investors such as Russell Crowe, Ronan Keating and Ryan Tubridy. As of July, The Muff Liquor Company opened their Brand Home in the village of Muff in Co. Donegal.

Sadie Chowen – Burren Perfumery

The Burren Perfumery is a small-scale perfume and cosmetics company that is inspired by the Irish landscape. Sadie Chowen started working there in 1998 and bought the company in 2001.

Chowen had a specific vision for the company and followed through with a rebrand in 2017 and opened a visitor’s centre. She also developed a business model with small batches in order to provide fresh stock.

Barikisu Ali Telfer – Sahara.ie

Sahara.ie is a handmade craft, interior and slow fashion brand which specialises in sourcing and selling handmade crafts from artisans across sub-Saharan Africa.

The business was founded by Barikisu Ali Telfer, who was raised in Ghana but is now living in Dublin. The goal of Sahara is to empower rural communities and support artisans across Africa by providing access to external markets and providing customers with unique handcrafted sustainable products.
