Eamonn Holmes pens heartfelt tribute to late mum in honour of Mother’s Day

Eamonn Holmes has shared a tribute to his late mother, Josie, who passed away last November.

Opening about his grief on his first Mother’s Day since her death, Eamonn confessed it was a struggle.

Writing on Instagram: “This is my first year without a Mother on Mother’s Day.”

The TV presenter also shared a sweet video of his mother, after she read an article he wrote about her. Telling her son: “Eamonn, Connor is only after reading out a lovely piece in the [Belfast] Telegraph about me.”

“I hope I was as good a mum as you’ve put in that paper. But anyway, I was all delighted about it. For once, son at least you’ve done something right at last! So anyway Eamonn, thank you very much love, and I love you too.”

Sharing his joy at having treasured his mum, the broadcaster wrote: “But I did an interview last year where I said how much I loved her. How glad I am I did. As you can see she seemed pretty happy.”

Finally he encouraged followers to reach out to their mums in honour of today. Saying: “If you still have a Mum . Give her a hug from me and don’t forget her tomorrow.”

Plenty of Eamonn’s friend sent their support in the comment section.

TV presenter Vanessa Feltz wrote: “Sending you so much love. This is my 18th year without my beautiful mother. She was just 57 when she passed away. I miss her every day. Huge hugs my darling friend”

Goggle Box star Lisa Baggs said: “That’s so lovely, sending lots of love”

Journalist Dawn Neesom commented: “What a lovely post. Beyond grateful to still have my lovely mum”

Josie was 93-years-old, when she passed away last November.

Sharing a snap of his mother, the broadcaster wrote: “My 4 amazing brothers and I said Goodbye for the last time to our beautiful Mum Josie this afternoon. She’s at last reunited with Daddy now. That is our only consolation.”

“We loved and will miss her so much. Every time I visited her she came to the door to bless me with Holy Water and Wave goodbye. Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy x”
