Dancing with the Stars is back!
And we couldn’t be more excited to see how all the celebrities get on during their first week.
As well as Karen Byrne joining the judging panel for the first time, we’ll be cheering her on!
Here’s how all the stars got on…
Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua
Danny and Salome were the first pair to dance their way onto the floor with a Foxtrot to Obviously by McFly.
“You opened the season in style,” judge Arthur Gourounlian told Danny.
While Brian Redmond said: “Buster Brady, you can bust a move!”
He got a score of five from Brian and Loraine, six from Karen and Arthur meaning his total of 22.
Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena
Yasmin swapped Kin for the DWTS dancefloor as she made her debut with a dramatic Samba to Oh Na Na by Camila Cabello.
She certainly impressed the judges although they all wanted more from her with Arthur telling her: “You’ve got this, baby!”
“What a samba! You have some rhythm in that body!” Karen Byrne praised.
It’s no surprise they secured a score of six from Brian, Karen and Lorraine while Arthur awarded them seven. The total was 25!
Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent
Training Season was certainly over for Gearóid as he made a dramatic statement Tango.
And he impressed the judges despite a little slip at the beginning of the routine.
“You’ve started very, very well,” Brian Redmond, the notoriously tough judge, told the comedian.
They received a six from Brian, seven from Karen and Arthur and an eight from Loraine – a total of 28.
Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov
Jack swapped the taekwondo mat for the dancefloor with a beautiful Viennese Waltz.
We also got to see new professional, Alex Vladimirov on the floor all the way from Australia! And it’s safe to say we love her.
“What a first dance! I’m easy to make cry and I could cry after seeing that,” Karen confessed. “For your first dance, I’m lost for words!”
The judges awarded them a total of 30, with a score of seven from Brian and Loraine and eight from Karen and Arthur.
Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba
The weather may be miserable outside, but Joanna is only giving us good news in the Dancing with the Stars studio!
She performed the Cha Cha to Raining Men – of course. She was also paired with a brand new professional Maciej Zieba.
“You gave it a good lash!” Karen told Joanna while Loraine admitted: “Some of the action was missing from the steps. But you gave it your best.”
Joanna admitted that she was “glad it was over”. The judges awarded her a total of 15 with a three from Brian and four from Karen, Loraine and Arthur.
Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze
Mickey Joe swapped his guitar for the dancefloor and he gave it socks in his Paso Doble to Teenage Kicks.
While he made a few stumbles on the floor, he was great craic. And Daniela made her Dancing with the Stars debut as a professional.
“You have to be more in sync with Daniela going forward,” Arthur warned him while Brian referred to him as “Mickey Joe manic”.
The judges awarded him a score of five from Brian, Karen and Loraine and a four from Arthur. This was a total of 19.
Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowiński
The Miss Universe knows exactly how to captative an audience and that was no different on the dancefloor with her Quickstep.
She may have been dancing to Stargazing but we think we were gazing at the next DWTS star!
“You were gliding across the dancefloor,” Arthur enthused. “The sky is the limit for you!”
They received a well-deserved seven from Brian, Karen and Loraine and an eight from Arthur, making that a total of 29.
Kevin Dundon and Rebecca Scott
Kevin is cooking up a storm for the first episode of Dancing with the Stars! He served up an incredible American Smooth.
Rebecca Scott also made her debut as a professional on the series. Oh, and it’s her birthday! Kevin even baked her a cake!
“It was all icing and not enough cake,” Brian told him. While Karen enthused: “The dancing chef has arrived! I’m happy watching you dance and that’s what the show is!”
Brian gave them a three, Karen and Arthur both awarded them a five while Loraine gave them four, meaning it’s a total of 17.
Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas
Kayleigh paid tribute to her Monaghan roots with a jive as she made her debut onto the Dancing with the Stars stage.
“Overall it was a very slick performance. I loved it,” Karen told her.
“It was an exciting routine,” Arthur said.
It was definitely a fun routine that received a seven from all four judges meaning she received a grand total of 28.
Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson
Elaine made a dramatic entrance to the show with a beautiful Waltz.
She was once, twice, three times a lady for sure!
“It was so beautiful to watch! It’s a very hard dance to do,” Loraine, the queen of the Waltz, praised her. While Arthur told her: “You were mesmerising.”
She received a very well-earned score of five from Brian and Loraine, six from Karen and a seven from Arthur. Meaning she received a total of 23.
Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan
Rhys definitely has a competitive streak after winning gold at the Olympics. And he proved that he’s coming for the Glitterball with the Salsa on the first show.
It looks like they might have saved the best to last. Jennifer Zamparelli’s words, not ours!
“There were more tricks than a magician’s congress!” Brian praised. “We’re not giving out any gold medals tonight, but that might get you on the podium in the future.”
“It’s like you were born a dancer!” Karen gushed.
Rhys and Laura have proved themselves to be the ones to watch with scores of seven from Brian, eight from Karen, Loraine and Arthur with a total of 31.
