Dancing With Stars is back for week two, and the celebrities are already improving their moves.
But with two pro-dancers having fallen ill, can those affected manage to still win the judges over?
Here’s how they all got on…
Rosanna Davison and Stephen Vincent
Rosanna took to the dance floor first by showing off her salsa skills with partner Stephen Vincent as the pair danced to Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira.
Judge Lorraine Barry loved the performance and interaction between the two, while Arthur Gourounlian compared her to a “snake zig-zagging through the Amazon.”
And yes, that was a compliment!
She received seven points from Brian Redmond, eight from Lorraine and eight from Arthur resulting in her getting 23 points.
Miriam Mullins and Montel Hewson
Miriam and Montel delivered the sass as they danced the Samba to Calm Down by Rema ft. Selena Gomez.
Judge Arthur couldn’t help but dance along to the performance describing it as “fierce-some”
While Brian added how their “bounce and grooves” were perfect!
They received 21 points overall after getting seven points from all three judges.
Shane Quigley Murphy and Laura Nolan
Shane gave a stunning performance as he danced the Waltz with partner Laura to Michael Buble’s At This Moment.
Despite at times being slightly ahead of the music, Lorraine adored the “gorgeous storytelling”.
While all three judges agreed on Shane’s near if not perfect frame and hold during their dance.
Brian scored them six points, with both Lorraine and Arthur giving seven. This resulted in them getting 20 points overall.
Rory Cowan and Jillian Bromwich
There was no sign of the “Rory Ripple” this week as the actor showed his softer side by dancing the Viennese Waltz to Dean Martin’s That’s Amore.
“Bravo, Bravo!” proclaimed Lorraine after their dance.
“Such an improvement from last week,” added Arthur.
Their performance earned them 14 points after receiving a four from Brian, while both Lorraine and Arthur awarded them five points.
Laura Fox and Denys Samson
Presenter Laura wowed viewers with the first Contemporary Ballroom of the series as she danced to Taylor Swift’s Cruel Summer.
But despite delivering a brilliant performance, Brian did share one concern he has for Laura which is down to characterisation, adding: “Dance is a lot more than physical movement.”
Even so, Laura and Denys received a respectable 22 points after being awarded seven points from both Brian and Lorraine while Arthur went one step further giving them eight points.
Not bad, hey?
Katja Mia and Ervinas Merfeldas
Katja and Ervinas delivered the fun as they danced the Foxtrot to Queen’s Killer Queen.
Lorraine described the performance as “fun and sassy” while Arthur added that no matter what they throw at Katja, she delivers!
Both Brian and Lorraine scored them seven points, while Arthur gave eight.
This earned them a grand total of 22 points.
Jason Smyth and Juliia Vaslyenko
Jason and Juliia pulled off an amazing performance as they danced the Paso Doble to Run to You by Bryan Adams.
Yes sadly, Jason’s original partner Karen had to take a back seat this week with Ukranian Latin American dancer Juliia filling in.
Despite the last-minute change, the judges were still more than impressed with the pair given the circumstances.
Brian gave them five points, while Lorraine and Arthur awarded them six points, resulting in a total of 17 points.
Blu Hydrangea and Simone Arena
Blu Hydrangea and Simone Arena were memorising as they danced the American Smooth to Madonna’s True Blue.
“This is how it’s done!” expressed Arthur.
Brian, however, needed more convincing as he admitted that he didn’t love the performance as much as last week.
Blu and Simone received 20 points overall after being awarded seven points from both Lorraine and Arthur with Brian giving them six.
Davy Russell and Laura Nolan
Davy and Laura had the crowd on their feet as they danced the Quickstep to Giddy Up by Shania Twain.
With a last-minute change of partner for Davy, Laura came to the rescue, as she filled in for Kylee Vincent.
Lorraine described their performance as having a “lovely country feel” but Davy admitted he was a bit disappointed in himself having missed a few steps.
They received 15 points overall, with all three judges giving them 5 points.
Eileen Dunne and Robert Rowiński
Eileen turned the music up with her dance partner Robert as they danced the cha-cha to Let’s Get Loud by Jennifer Lopez.
“What an entrance” began Lorraine. “It was amazing,” she added before revealing that she thought the performance was missing the cha-cha steps.
“Your spirit and determination, however, was 100 per cent there.”
They received five points from Brian, while Lorraine and Arthur awarded them four points earning them 13 points in total.
David Whelan and Salome Chachua
David and Salome ended the show on a high with their performance of the Charleston as they danced to Bad Boy Good Man by Tape Five
“You absolutely smashed it. What a number to finish the show tonight,” shared Arthur.
While Brian even teased that he could see them lifting the highly sought-after glitterball trophy!
Each of the judges awarded them an eight earning them 24 points in total!
