American band The Killers played their much anticipated Dublin gigs in Malahide Castle this week.
During night one a dream came true for one musical devotee, who was pulled up on stage to play with the iconic band for one song.
The band’s front man Brandon Flowers invited the fan on stage after spotting him holding a sign asking if he could drum for them. The sign read: “Can I play drums on For Reasons Unknown?”
Playing in front of 30,000 people Sam from Monkstown nailed his big moment, playing their song ‘For Reasons Unknown’.
Sam from Monkstown, Dublin, joined @thekillers @MalahideCastleG & he was epic on drums funny enough. Just an amazing gig! I haven’t been to a huge gig like this since 2019. So happy! Sam’s over the moon, I’d say! pic.twitter.com/IveLcN99od

Sam even managed to get a snap with singer Brandon and drummer Ronnie Vannucci. The 20-year-old spoke about the experience on Newstalk Breakfast, sharing that he had the moment planned for a while.
“The night before, my friend Joe texted me and said, if I make a sign, they might see me and let me up”
“So, I stayed up until 5am making the sign and we just got as close as we could to the front and he noticed and he brought me up”

Sam went on to say that he had a good feeling about his plan, which worked out very well for him.
“It felt really good. It felt really natural – which is kind of weird because it is not a very natural situation but, I don’t know, I just had the most fun ever. I remember smiling the whole time.”
“From the second he said come up … the second I hopped the barrier – you have to run so in that time – I didn’t have space for nerves.”
