Donal Skehan has hilariously revealed that karma has some back on him following the Eurosong drama that occurred earlier this year.
In case you need a reminder, Samantha Mumba famously told Donal, Arthur Gourounlian and Laura Fox, who made up the Euronsong judging panel at the time, to eat a bag of “aubergines” after the three made “rude and vile” comments about some of the contestants’ songs.
Of course, Donal couldn’t help but poke fun at Mumba’s crude remark and even changed his Instagram name to an aubergine.
However, now the TV Chef has revealed he cannot change it back, despite several attempts!
Speaking on his new podcast, Let’s Do This with Arthur Gourounlian, Donal revealed he was gifted “a whole load of aubergines” in the wake of Mumba’s reference to the emoji.
“Okay, I have a confession to make,” he admitted.
“I was gifted a whole load of aubergines, and so I decided I would change my name to Donal ‘aubergine’, and now I have the aubergine emoji next to my name.
“Now the biggest issue there is, I have been trying to change that for 30 days,” he added.

“So basically, that was my Eurosong karma. I have had an aubergine emoji next to my name for the last month and a half, and we have tried everything together, so Instagram or TikTok or Facebook, if you are listening, please remove the emoji.
“It’s now something I live with permanently. I don’t think I’ll ever change it. I think it’s here to stay.”
Arthur couldn’t resist joking that it was now a part of “Irish history,” while also expressing what a “pleasure” it was to sit beside his friend on the panel.
