Donal Skehan had quite the scare the other night after being taken in for emergency surgery, having had appendicitis.
The TV Chef took to Instagram today to explain what happened and give fans a reassuring update on how he’s coping.
Writing in a post from his hospital bed, Donal joked: “Well now, I know all I need to know about the appendix and appendicitis
“The last 24 hours have been non-stop. Had the operation last night to have it removed.”
Continuing on, he said: “I cooked Sunday family lunch for 10 and noticed a pain which got worse and worse!
“Thankful to have caught it early. I hope it wasn’t the sticky toffee pudding.”
Donal then thanked his followers for their “lovely messages” and reassured them that he’s “on the mend”.
He also thanked all the hospital staff and gave a special mention to Natalia for making the “best breakfast” for him this morning after not eating since Sunday night.
He finished off his tribute by saying: “Absolute heroes. So amazing with all the patients and different cases. So much respect for what they do.”
Donal, who shares two sons, Noah and Oliver, with his wife Sofia, also shared some heart-melting cards his kids had made for him.
“Dear Pappa, hope you feel better soon. Love Noah,” read Noah’s card.
“Very cute cards from the little guys,” he noted.
