Doireann Garrihy has admitted that she feels an obligation to ‘protect’ her boyfriend, Paddy Wilson, feeling the need to keep him out of the public eye as much as possible.
Speaking on The Six O’Clock Show, Doireann opened up about her relationship with Paddy, and how he feels about having a girlfriend in the spotlight.
“For the most part I’m very lucky, I don’t get a whole lot of negative stuff online, and anything I do get, most days I can just brush it off.
“But I think if you’re with someone who isn’t in the public eye as well, you’re going to be that bit more protective,” she continued.
“I signed up to do public things and so if people want to bash me then fair enough, I’ve kind of put myself out there, but I would hate for that to be the case for Paddy.”

Doireann and Paddy have been dating for over a year, with the couple moving in together in March of this year. Doireann kept their relationship quiet at the beginning of their romance, something she says was a conscious decision.
“I’m very selective about what I do and don’t share. I wouldn’t show a whole lot of personal stuff.”
Going on to say that her boyfriend has a wicked sense of humour, she admits that while she keeps things private between them, no one can make her laugh as he does:
“He has a really dry humour. He wouldn’t be outright funny, he just kind of has these little cutting comments that kind of make you go, ‘Oh God I’m not as cool as I think I am.”
“It makes me roar laughing.”
