Doireann Garrihy was in flying form at the launch of this year’s Platinum VIP Style Awards in Café en Seine.
VIP Magazine caught up with the Dancing with the Stars presenter who is once again the host on the night.
”I am absolutely delighted to be back. Last year was my first year so it was a little bit more nerve-wracking. So it will be great to come back and do it with one of them under my belt. It really is a great night. It is probably the most fun night in the Irish calendar,” she tells us on how excited she is to host the Platinum VIP Style Awards once more.
However, there is one hosting gig that she won’t be doing.
She may be one of the frontrunners to take on The Late Late Show but she admits that the ”conversation is so funny”.
”I think that the conversation is so funny. Ryan hasn’t even left the gig yet, can we please just reflect on the incredible job he has done for the past 14 years,” she tells us.
”Can we let him have his Swan Song. That’s not my journey or path at this age or stage of my life. Everyone could see themselves doing the Toy Show. I’m just fresh off Dancing with the Stars and that is the kind of TV that I like.”
Yes, she is delighted to have joined Dancing with the Stars. She opens up about the emotional post where she confessed that she “could never have dreamt” of her current career.
“I really did feel that when I put that up on my Insta Story. It’s only when you finish something and you reflect on it you can be like, ‘Oh my God that was amazing.’ I was so grateful to have the opportunity to do it. And I’d love for it to come back next year,“ she admits.
She has been absolutely blown away with the support from DWTS.
She tells VIP Magazine: “It was a real sense of people getting behind us. People were sending us lovely messages on Instagram and people were stopping me in the street.
“That’s just an indication of how big Dancing with the Stars is before I presented it people might give me and tell me they liked the Breakfast Show. Now it’s on another level of people who recognise me.“
She has had a busy few months, spending her weekends hosting Dancing with the Stars and waking up at cock’s crow during the week to host the 2FM Breakfast Show alongside Carl Mullan and Donncha O’Callaghan.
While she admits she is getting better at her work/life balance, she wouldn’t change things for the world.
“I have no regrets about ploughing on and taking on opportunities that have come my way. I love the nature of my work, I love doing it.
“Of course, there are days where I would like to have nothing on for the next two days but everyone feels that. You have to roll with the punches and say yes to things when the opportunities come up,“ she admits.
As for her hosting duties for the Platinum VIP Style Awards, we ask will she be joined by her sisters.
“I haven’t spoken to Aoibhín or Ailbhe yet. And sure they be popping out babies to beat the band so I don’t even know if they’re going,“ she jokes.
