Dermot Bannon chats about new puppy and how shes“eating the furniture left right and centre”

Dermot Bannon appeared on Today FM with Ian Dempsey this morning and spoke about his new family puppy and her love of chewing furniture.

The architect spoke very fondly about his new puppy Bailey on the show this morning, saying “she is gorgeous.” He also revealed that she has one cheeky habit in true puppy fashion saying she is, “eating the furniture left right and centre.”

As furniture is something you want to keep looking well in your home, Dermot shared his method of protecting his furniture, “I’m putting Vicks on to everything.” He explained that the dog can’t stand the smell of the strong vaporub and leaves the furniture alone when she catches a whiff.

Dermot revealed that his wife Louise was originally the one who wasn’t too keen on getting the puppy, “My wife was the one who was the most against getting the dog, because she knew the work that’d be involved.”

But it wasn’t long before these reservations were forgotten about as Dermot said “…now the two of them are best buddies.”

That’s always the case with the parent who didn’t want the dog, they always come around in the end!

Dermot also spoke about his new 2 part series Dermot Bannon’s Super Small Spaces which he was inspired to do during lockdown when he started thinking “there must be some clever little projects” that he could be doing.

The show starts on Sunday June 6th at 9:30pm on RTÉ One.

He is also filming Room To Improve at the moment, so lots of great content to come!
