January is here which means we have so much unreal telly to sink our teeth into.
And with the weather as bitter as it is, we definitely won’t be going outside anytime soon.
From Dancing with the Stars to The Traitors and now Room to Improve, our evenings have been pretty busy.
Yes, Room to Improve is back with the first episode airing on Sunday night.
Dermot headed to Mayo to meet Karen Mulligan and help to convert her dad’s butcher shop into her dream home.
Karen wanted to build a three-bed townhouse with two bathrooms that featured an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room area. It certainly wasn’t a project for the faint of heart.
And it’s safe to say that Dermot isn’t faint of heart.
He and Karen certainly butted heads over the course of the programme but by the end of the build, Karen’s dreams had all come true.
Dermot created a modern and colourful home for Karen in a very special space for her.
And most importantly, he was able to stay within budget!
Karen’s original plan was to get the renovation done for €290,000, but they were forced to change plans and update the budget. The final cost came in at €345,000, which was very close to their revised budget.
And fans were delighted!
