Decluttering? 4 books to get you organised for 2021

@thehomeedit

At the start of a new year it’s easy to get sucked into dozens of new resolutions, but given the difficult 2020 we’ve just had, here at VIP we think we should all go easy on ourselves.

Rather than focus on changing ourselves, or our bodies, we’re looking at our homes. As we’re spending more and more time at home we may have noticed areas that aren’t functioning properly or could do with decluttering.

We’re going to get ahead of our spring clean and start working our way through our homes this month.

To help inspire you, here are four books on organisation that can guide you and make you more content staying home!

Organised by Sarah Reynolds

Written by Ireland’s leading organisational expert, Sarah Reynolds, this book promises to get your life on track with her tips and tricks!

Sarah, who runs professional organising company, Organised Chaos, provides ways to get your home looking beautifully organised but also functional.

This organisational manual pledges to help you to  “learn why changing habits, mastering your time and creating beautifully organised spaces can make you happier. ”

The Happy Closet by Ann Marie O’Connor

Another Irish author set on getting your organised is Ann Marie O’Connor, but this book is focused on your wardrobes.

This is an area for most people, that most frequently gets messy and is most difficult to tackle.

However, after a year spent in loungewear it may be easier for you, now with some distance, to part with some clothes.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up has sold almost 9 million copies worldwide, and for good reason.

Kondo’s method of only keeping what ‘sparks joy’ may seem a bit ‘woo-woo’ but it actually works.

Especially when going through sentimental areas of your home it can be hard to know what to keep, but this guide really helps.

The Home Edit Life: The No-Guilt Guide to Owning What You Want and Organizing Everything
Book by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin

We don’t know about you, but we spent most of the last lockdown binge watching The Home Edit on Netflix. Organising extraordinaires  Joanna and Clea showed us their ways throughout the series, including Reese Witherspoon’s wardrobe!

This book will help you to tackle your home head on and get it under control without having to go super-minimalist and get rid of all your belongings!
