Danny O’Carroll has surprised the judges and viewers at home with his incredible dance skills.

But the person who is most shocked with his dance moves is Danny himself.

Speaking to VIP Magazine about his time on the show, he admits he’s surprised he has gotten this far.

“I thought if I could get to as far as week six, I would go out with my head held high and that would be amazing for me. Being here on week eight is surprising no one more than me,” he laughs.

“I am just taking each week as it comes. I’m not expecting anything at this stage. I’m just enjoying each week as it comes. Will I get past this week? Who knows. But who cares! I’m absolutely exhausted too. So if I go home now, it’s fine, I’ll get to go see my boys.”

Of course, his partner Tina has been in the audience every week but could he be getting a visit from his father, Brendan O’Carroll?

“If I get to the final, I might get a little visit from my dad from Florida. But who knows! There’s a lot of stuff going on over there that he’s very busy with! I’d like him to come back. But only if I make it to the final!” he admits.

Well surely he’s aiming for the final. And with so much praise from the judges, we have to know…does Danny think he can win?

“No!” he laughs immediately. “Absolutely not! Have you see what those guys can do? I’m happy I’m still here. I’m delighted with the positive comments. But I’m not coming out here to play a game.”

Dancing with the Stars continues on Sunday at 6:30pm on RTÉ One
