Danielle Galligan shares her dream role

Danielle Galligan

Danielle Galligan has her dream project in mind.

She’s no stranger to big productions as she is currently appearing in Netflix’s House of Guinness, but she really smashed onto the scene in the streamer’s adaptation of popular fantasy book series, Shadow and Bone.

She still has a soft spot for her character Nina Zenik, telling us she’s used to seeing a lot of fan-made videos of Nina on social media.

“I see a lot of Nina Zenik. It’s all Nina Zenik, Nina Zenik, Nina Zenik,” she tells VIP Magazine at the IFTA red carpet with a laugh.

We let her know that her House of Guinness character Lady Olivia also was a fan favourite on TikTok. And she’s delighted!

“I don’t have TikTok. I’m enough on Instagram, I can’t do anything else,” she laughs before adding, “I don’t be searching myself. But I’m glad Lady Olivia is getting her TikTok moment, she’d be delighted.”

While we don’t have a confirmation on House of Guinness season two, we’re keeping positive.

“They tell actors nothing because of situations like this! I know nothing,” she tells us.

Not only is she starring in the Netflix series, she is also playing eldest daughter, Claire, in The Walsh Sisters.

“There’s a lot of support for both. So hopefully, hopefully! We have to enjoy every job in the moment. I would love for both characters to come back, I don’t think their stories are finished,” she affirms.

“I would love to see both of them have a good run. Lady Olivia is only getting started.”

Both shows are stacked with Irish people and Danielle says it’s an incredible experience.

“We just have a shorthand with an Irish cast and with The Walsh Sisters, we have an Irish crew as well. It’s so lovely.

“I’m just so proud of the industry, of the creatives we have and our crews are just so diligent and creative. I’m just really proud that we have built up infrastructure to be able to support these huge shows. It’s great.”

As for her dream project? Well she beams as she says: “I just really want to do Gráinne Mhaol. But Nicola Coughlan’s doing it. So I just want to be in it.

“Gráinne Mhaol’s been my girl for a long time. Nicola Coughlan is perfect casting; she’s unbelievable. I’ll just be a pirate in the background, I’ll be a hammerhead shark! I don’t care!”
