Daniel O’Donnell has fondly remembered his friendship with the late Sinéad O’Connor.
Daniel is amongst those who had a close connection with the singer.
The pair met during an episode of the Irish version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in a bid to raise money for their chosen charities.
Speaking to The Independent, Daniel said: “We were an unlikely pairing that really clicked very well on the night. And she was lovely, she was a beautiful soul.
“And after the thing was over myself and herself and Brian Kennedy were dancing on the floor, that’s my memory of her, it was a happy memory of Sinéad for me.”
He went on to say that he knows Sinéad had a “difficult” life, especially in the “latter months”.
“The loss of her son, it’s beyond comprehension I suppose until somebody loses one of their children, I can’t imagine what it must be like,” he told the publication.
Daniel has two stepchildren from his marriage to his wife Majella.
“Such a sad, sad loss to the world of music but it’s her family that will miss her the most,” he went on to say.
The 56-year-old’s family confirmed that her family had passed away in July: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
The Met Police shared that her death is not being treated as suspicious. Saying: “Police were called at 11:18hrs on Wednesday, 26 July to reports of an unresponsive woman.
“Officers attended. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Next of kin have been notified. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
