Daniel O’Donnell has candidly opened up about the loss of his beloved sister Kathleen.
Kathleen passed away suddenly at her home in Kincasslagh in February 2023.
She was aged just 67 at the time.
Speaking to the Independent, Daniel detailed the “huge shock” that his sister’s death had on the family and how she was always the “go-to” woman for whatever their needs.
“I do reminisce over the years about the comings and goings,” he started off.
“When my mother died, Kathleen was next in line,” he shared.
“They were similar kind of people. She was the go-to woman, like my mother before her.”
Daniel was particularly close to Kathleen and revealed that there was “no warning” as she died of a suspected heart attack.
Kathleen’s death came just months after the death of Daniel’s mother-in-law, Marion who died in September 2022.
Also touching on the death of his father, who he lost at a young age, Daniel added that he never felt too affected by the loss.
“I was too young, but the others were [affected].
Maybe I was affected by it indirectly, but I can’t say it impacted on me,” the singer noted.
