Dancing with the Stars to pay tribute to Julian Benson this week

This week is Dedicated Dance Week on Dancing with the Stars which will see the contestants pay tribute to those near and dear to them in their lives.

This year, we will also have an emotional dedication to former judge Julian Benson.

Julian sadly passed away in April of last year, his family confirmed.

He was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two but did not reveal his diagnosis publicly until 2018.

This week, the special episode of Dancing with the Stars will honour former judge Julian Benson, who passed away in April last year.

Viewers will hear from former presenter Nicky Byrne and former Head Judge Lorraine Barry, as well as current presenter Jennifer Zamparelli and judges Brian Redmond, Karen Byrne, and Arthur Gourounlian, who will share memories of their dear friend and colleague.

The professional dancers will also honour the man endearingly named ‘Captain Sparkle’ with an emotional performance to ‘Last Dance’ by Donna Summer.

At the time of his passing, his family shared a statement that read: “The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the care teams who helped Julian live a full and extraordinary life, in particular: the incredible Cystic Fibrosis team at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, whose expertise and compassion supported Julian throughout his life; ​​​​​the transplant team at Beaumont Hospital, whose care gave Julian renewed energy and allowed him to see his dream realised and the ICU team at St. Vincent’s, who cared for Julian with tenderness and kindness during his final days.”
