Damian McGinty is a Derry boy at heart.
However, he has been based in the States for almost a decade now after he found fame on the musical series, Glee.
In fact, he has spent most of his life away from home as he started touring with Celtic Thunder at the tender age of 14.
Now speaking to VIP Magazine, he confesses that he would love to put down roots in Ireland.
“I think about moving back all the time,“ he confesses.
In fact it was one of the reasons why he jumped at the chance to take part in this season of Dancing with the Stars. He even turned down the chance to appear on the American version in favour of his native land’s offering.
“This opportunity came a great time for me, personally and professionally. But last summer I was having conversations with my wife, my family, my friends just that I would love to even out my time a bit more.“
He married his wife, American actress Anna Claire Sneed, in 2019 with the couple settling down in Nashville.
Although Nashville is his home, he admitted that he is “never going to be fully based anywhere“.
“I know I’m never going to be fully based anywhere because I travel for work, I gig, I tour, I shoot projects in different locations. That’s how my life has laid out. This is a good start to do that. But I would love to have a base here long term, that’s my plan.“
He’ll be testing out the waters as he and Anna Claire will be spending the first three months of 2023 in Ireland, regardless of how long he stays in the show.
