Daisy Edgar-Jones is no stranger to adapting beloved Irish books. She became a household name when she played Marianne in Normal People.
Now she’s returning to Ireland for another book adaptation and this time she will be teaming up with the man behind the lauded Kneecap film.
Director Rich Peppiatt will helm the adaptation of Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by historians Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick.
This book tells the untold stories of Irish women who emigrated to North America between 1838 and 1918.

Variety describes the upcoming film: “Set in the 19th century against the backdrop of a famine-ravaged Ireland, the story focuses on two sisters who make a treacherous journey to America to escape an abusive father, poverty and hunger. Once in New York, they join the ranks of Irish so-called ‘Bridgets’ creating mayhem in the city.”
The film is due to take place across Ireland next year, neither Daisy nor Rich are strangers to the Emerald Isles, so we’re sure they’ll have a great time.
This will be Rich’s second film after his directoral debut of Kneecap.
CODA and Task star, Emilia Jones, will also star in the upcoming film.
Keep your eyes peeled!
