We’ve been loving seeing the different facets of Tommy Tiernan over the years.
As a stand-up comedian, as an actor and most recently as an interviewer.
He is a staple of Irish telly, but it is The Tommy Tiernan Show that has showcased a completely different version of him to the world.
And now it looks like he could be making another huge career change.
It’s been reported that Tommy has had meetings with current president Michael D Higgins.
He’s definitely got tongues wagging as journalist Matt Cooper and political commentator Ivan Yates discussed the possibility of him running for President and how likely it would be for him to win on their podcast, Path to Power.
“Cha-ching…I could see him being elected,” Ivan cheekily admitted.
While Matt added: “There were strong rumours last year that Michael D. Higgins was looking to endorse a candidate Tommy Tiernan. Michael D has a major grá for Tommy Tiernan, who he regards as an intellectual, who he regards as a deep thinker about issues.”
“He went through a period when he was on the dole very relatable,” Ivan went on to say, adding that he would “provide national entertainment from the [Phoenix] Park, might pursue causes.”
In fact they said that he would “tick a lot of boxes” when it comes to the polls.
Referencing Volodymyr Zelensky, he added: “We have a stand-up comedian running Ukraine, why not Ireland?”
Well, it would definitely be an interesting election!
