Jack Reynor has already got his big break in Hollywood, starring in the recent instalment of the Transformers movie franchise. But he could be set for superstardom if he lands the role he is apparently being considered for – that of legendary Star Wars character in a planned spin-off series focusing on Solo himself.
According to highly respected US entertainment magazine Variety, Jack is on a shortlist of 12 people, along with actors of a similar age such as Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride) and Dave Franco (21 Jump Street), to play the lead part in a series of movies, due to start in 2018. The still untitled movie will be based around the life of Han Solo, made famous by Harrison Ford, before he teamed up with Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars movie.
Furthermore, just to make things a bit more complex, the casting is being speeded up as the part of a young Han may also feature in the upcoming movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is due for release at the end of this year, and is rumoured to slot in between episodes 3 and 4 of the current Star Wars movies – i.e. between the 2005 release Star Wars: Revenge of the Syth, and what was the original 1977 Star Wars move – Star Wars: A New Hope.
Landing the role would be huge achievement for 23-year old Wicklow native Jack, currently engaged to Limerick model Madeline Mulqueen, who gained rave reviews for his part in Lenny Abrahamsson’s What Richard Did, which resulted in him landing major roles in Hollywood productions Delivery Man and Transformers: Age of Extinction.
