Everyone is eagerly waiting to see who will step into the hot seat now that Joe Duffy has announced his retirement.

He will leave Liveline on June 27th.

Several names have been thrown around for who could take on the role including Jennifer Zamparelli, Tommy Tiernan and even Dáithí Ó Sé.

But now a new name is in the mix!

Carl Mullan has found himself in the replacement rumours after RTÉ shared a cheeky video of him wandering into the Radio 1 studio.

Of course, Carl is a mainstay on 2FM where he has presented the breakfast show for years.

The clip showed Carl looking very confused as he sits in front of the microphone with the caption: “When you stumble into the wrong studio.”

They go on to say: “Looking like a fish out of water.”

Stoking the flames, Radio 1 joked: “Okay, close enough, you can have Liveline.”

“It won’t take long Carl…” Claire Byrne teased.

Presenter Katie Hannon is a regular replacement for Joe and is believed to be high on the list to land the role. Newtalk’s Ciara Kelly is also in the mix…

Well we’ll just have to wait and see who picks up the mic in July!
