Could Angela Scanlon take over as Strictly host?

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced last year that they would be stepping down from Strictly Come Dancing after 11 years presenting the show together.

Rumours have swirled about who could possibly replace these fan favourites.

One name that has been in the mix since day one is Ireland’s own Angela Scanlon.

And now she has added even more fuel to the fire.

Angela has officially left Virgin Radio as the station shared their new lineup for 2026 with the Meath woman notably missing.

Instead, she has been replaced by veteran UK broadcaster Tim Cocker.

Angela stepped into Virgin Media in February 2025 to replace Graham Norton, but now, 11 months later, she has left the station.

So could she be preparing to step into the Strictly Ballroom as a host this time? She previously competed on the show in 2023.

She was asked by The Sun if she would have any interest in hosting, saying: “You know, lots of different things to play for, but I would certainly answer the call.

“I am such a fan of the show and have been forever.”

Maura Higgins’ name has also been bandied around!

When Tess and Claudia announced their departure, Angela shared a gushing tribute to the duo. Her comments were filled with people urging her to go for the gig.

“You taking over from Claudia would be amazing,” one wrote.

“You should be presenting next,” another fan commented.

“What beautiful words. You would be FANTASTIC presenting this x,” a third pointed out.

Another read: “I love how it’s clear how much your Strictly experience still means to you even two years later. I think you’d make a fantastic new host.”

While someone else said: “You would make a fantastic new host of the show. You were great on it and have the right energy.”

What do you think?
