What a way to kick start the new year!
Colin Farrell won Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
He picked up the award for his role in The Penguin.
This marks the third time that Colin has won a Golden Globe.
He won his first for In Bruges before picking up one in 2023 for The Banshees of Inisherin.
However, it was just as special to him as he accepted the award.
He jokingly began his speech by saying: “No one to thank on this when I did it all by myself. Just a raw, pared-away performance.”
He added: “You all know it takes a village.”
He took the opportunity to thank the make-up team who helped him completely transform into his character. He also thanked craft services for keeping himself, the cast and crew fed during filming of the series.
The actor beat out fellow Irishman Andrew Scott in the category but he gave him a shoutout in his speech saying: “Andrew, you were in my first film, 25 or 30 years ago. You can’t even find it on Betamax. It doesn’t exist. We go back that far.”
Other stars in the category included Richard Gadd for Baby Reindeer, Ewan McGregor for A Gentleman In Moscow, Kevin Kline in Disclaimer and Cooper Koch in Monsters.
The Golden Globes, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, will air on RTÉ2 on Monday from 9pm
