CMAT blew the world away when she took to the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.
As a nation, we’re all so proud of her. But no one is more proud of her than her mother, Sinéad.
“The night before I said to my daughter, will you bring me over so I can see where the Pyramid Stage actually is. I just wanted to see what everyone was talking about crowd-wise. They kept talking about how people would be there,” she said on 2FM Breakfast with Carl, Roz & Aisling.
She admitted that she thought it would be like Croke Park before her daughters said: “A little bit bigger, mam.”

She laughed: “I was like, ‘Oh God! Oh God!’ They brought me over and showed me the hill. We were standing side of stage and there were loads of people, loads of people and then the hill! It was amazing. It was absolutely amazing.
“I couldn’t speak and that’s not like me. I was giddy with enjoyment. It was just unreal. You might dream of it, but you never think your child will end up somewhere like that.”
She admitted that they weren’t exactly a musical family growing up.
“I love music. But they were rared on the radio. The radio was always on. Ciara would have always listened to it,” she admitted.

“The Beatles would have been a big deal for her. Ciara was buying records when no one else was buying records and I would ask what she was going to play it on. ‘Oh I’m getting a record player from Santie!’.”
She added that Louise McSharry’s former weekend show was the first time CMAT was played on 2FM and that she also interviewed the I Want to be a Cowboy, Baby singer “four or five years ago”.
G’wan CMAT!
