Claudine Keane admits that she enjoyed living next door to the late Amy Winehouse, while in North London with her husband Robbie.
Writing in her Irish Daily Star column today, Claudine said, “She had been a neighbour of ours in Hadley Wood, a leafy suburb just north of London for over a year.”
She continued, “Her record label moved her down there in the hope she would settle down. It was a very family oriented place with nice parks for walks and cute little restaurants and coffee shops. It seemed like the perfect environment for Amy.”
Despite many claims at the time that local residents didn’t like the new addition to the area, Claudine said she enjoyed having Amy next door, and thought she was a nice woman.
“At the time there were many reports claiming that the neighbours, including Rob and I, were unhappy that she was living there… it couldn’t have been further from the truth. She was lovely, and very friendly,” she said.
The only thing Claudine found difficult about living near the singer, was that Amy was constantly swarmed by paparazzi.
“When I looked out of my window, I would feel sorry for her as the paparazzi would be constantly parked outside her house waiting for her epic fail,” she said.
A documentary about Amy’s life has just been released in theatres this week.
