Cadbury warns customers about Easter Egg hunt WhatsApp scam

Cadbury have put out a warning to chocolate fans as a new scam has been circulating on WhatsApp which has been luring customers into sharing personal details.

The chocolate company has released a statement after many people have fallen victim to a new scam link that claims to offer a free chocolate hamper and an Easter egg hunt.

Addressing the situation on Twitter they wrote, “We’re aware of circulating posts on social media claiming to offer a free Easter Chocolate basket. We can confirm this has not been generated by us & we urge consumers not to interact with it or share any data. We’re working with relevant organisations to ensure this is resolved.”

The link leads customers to a series of questions about chocolate as well as asking them to fill in personal details in return for chocolate.

The link also automatically shares to a number of contacts in your phone, which leads to more people being at risk of the scam.

If you come across this link on social media be careful not to click and share it, never share your financial details online unless you are positive it is a legitimate company.
