Theories had swirled about who will be next on the Bridgerton romance rota.
Could Eloise finally be finding love? Or would Francesca get a second chance at romance after the tragic death of her husband, John?
Well, worry not because we now officially know who season five will be about.
Bridgerton Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that Francesca and Michaela will be getting their romance.
This is the first time that Bridgerton will focus on a same-sex couple, so it’s a big milestone for the Netflix series.
“More than ever, Season 5 is going to be about yearning,” Jess tells Netflix.
“It feels groundbreaking. Obviously, there are a lot of great shows that have depicted queer love. We’re not the first by any means. But to make an entire Bridgerton season about a sapphic relationship feels huge.”
In Season five, Francesca decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons, two years after the death of her beloved husband, Lord John Stirling.

But when John’s cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.
The next season of Bridgerton is already in production, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see this love story happen on screen!
