Brian Dowling has shared a heartfelt tribute to his late mother Rosie, on fifth anniversary of her death.
Brian’s mother, Rosie passed away suddenly in 2018 at the age of 61, and he often speaks about her loss. Taking to Instagram, Brian reminisced about the special moments that have occurred since her passing, and his grief that his mother wasn’t a part of them.
Sharing a picture of his daughter Blake, and nephew Harvey, Brian wrote: “We gathered this evening as a family to mark our mum’s fifth anniversary. Mum will have officially passed 5 years next Tuesday. Sometimes it still feels so fresh & other times it feels like I’ve not seen her in 10 years or more. Pictured here we have the current babies of the family, Harvey & Blake. They LOVE to spend time together. To think mum has never held them is heartbreaking”
But Brian also shared some wonderful news, informing fans that their family will be expanding. As his youngest sister Tara is pregnant.
“Excitingly Blake will no longer be the baby of the family & Harvey is going to be a big brother this summer. Our baby sister Tara is pregnant & glowing. FAMILY WAS EVERYTHING to mum. Blake can’t wait to meet her baby cousin.”
While in the comment section, Brian’s husband Arthur Gourounlian wrote: “I mean, would you look at this picture. I can’t believe Blake won’t be the baby in the family anymore, and Harvey is about to become the best big brother J’ADORE.”
Back in October Brian opened up about how he had been experience grief since welcoming baby Blake, as she and his mother never got to meet.
Saying: “I actually wasn’t sure whether to post this pic or not from visiting my mum’s grave with Blake for the first time last Sunday. I just think it’s an incredibly sad pic and probably the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”
“To think Blake will never really know mum or get any cuddles from her breaks my heart. I’ve never ever gotten over the loss of our mother and I never will; to this day, over 4 years later, I still ask WHY.”
Continuing: “No matter what age you are, you never stop wanting or missing your parents. I always try to be open/honest and transparent when it comes to grief, especially as I host my own podcast Death Becomes Him, where I ask all my guests to do the same.”
The TV personality shared that he had paused production on the podcast when he and Arthur began their journey to fatherhood, want to focus on becoming parents. But since Blake’s birth, Brian had wanted to restart the project to help others. Sharing that another season is underway.
“So now that baby Blake is here safe and sound and absolutely thriving, it’s time for daddy to get back to the podcast world and start recording more episodes of Death Becomes Him. So, I’m happy to confirm I’m now in the process of planning season 5, where we will bring you seven more beautiful episodes.”
“To anyone out there struggling with grief, remember you are not alone. So many people know how you are feeling and please don’t be afraid to ask for help. At the time it can feel so isolating, and you may even feel like you are losing it. As I’ve always said grief is such a tricky thing to navigate and all each and every one of us can do is our best,” he wrote.
